Headless CMS

Structured content and “API first” for maximum flexibility & speed

With Headless CMS, your content can be used efficiently and flexibly for all touchpoints. Forget redundant maintenance and enjoy the freedom to optimize and personalize your frontends for different channels without the typical CMS restrictions.

With a headless strategy, you no longer produce content for just one specific channel. Content is available in a structured form for a wide variety of purposes: Corporate website, campaign page, store, customer portal, newsletter, social media, app, chatbot or IoT... all use the same content basis!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Headless content is no longer written for a specific page or a specific article - not even for a specific channel. Content is created for a specific topic and managed in a structured way: Topic articles, media elements or layout types are viewed as independent content; the focus is on the reusability of the individual pieces of information. This allows different frontends for different channels on different user devices to decide for themselves which content fragments are displayed... and how. Your content can be used in a wide variety of sites, channels and systems. This makes your stakeholders happy, because they don't have to wait for a specific piece of content to be produced for a specific channel.

MARKETERS LOVE IT!

Marketers want to reach their target group precisely - on every channel and everywhere. A headless strategy creates consistent user experiences for all touchpoints, with a fast time-to-market and low effort per channel.

Personalizing individual areas or entire pages is also child's play thanks to the dynamic combination of structured content snippets.

Essential workflows that are often time-consuming in traditional CMSs, e.g. for translation or digital quality management, can be easily automated with structured content.

EDITORS LOVE IT!

As an editor, concentrate on creating attractive, informative content on a topic - nothing else.

Forget the peculiarities of CMS templates or the limitations of a channel, screen widths, loading times, font sizes or scrolling widths... others take care of that individually for each channel and touchpoint.

Content silos are a thing of the past, as is the redundant maintenance of the same content in different places. This leaves more time for research, inspiration and good creation! And that may save you a stressful evening or two, e.g. because the campaign site or newsletter still has to be finished by tomorrow.

DEVELOPERS LOVE IT!

Team play remains an important success factor with Headless. But unlike traditional CMSs, frontend, backend and CMS developers coordinate once and can then work freely and independently: without waiting for upstream or downstream work packages.

This allows projects to be parallelized and scaled.  Front- & backend do not have to take the CMS and its special features into consideration: free choice of frontend technologies, frameworks and team colleagues!

Instead of proprietary plugins for certain features, headless CMS uses standardized REST APIs to integrate typical workflows: does it understand JSON? Then it can process our content!

WHY INTENTIVE?

At Intentive, we have been working with API-based, decoupled editorial systems for over 10 years - longer than the term “headless CMS” has been around. Our first content repository project was launched back in 2009, enabling more than 1,000 editors within the Evangelical Church of Germany (EKD) to share content within the organization and also to use it from other EKD partners. Since then, we have designed and implemented decoupled, API-based digital platforms for a wide range of customers in B2B and B2C scenarios.

Open, modular and seamless. Thanks to decoupled systems and “API first”, we can implement complete front-end redesigns without any CMS customization and flexibly meet new requirements.
